Purpose: To acknowledge outstanding support of Georgia 4-H.
Process: Nominations for the award will be solicited on an annual basis in March. A selection committee with representation from the Georgia 4-H Foundation, the 4-H Advisory Committee, the Georgia Association of Extension 4-H Agents, and representative(s) from 4-H alumni groups will meet with 4-H staff to review nominations and make the selection.
Green Jacket Nomination Form revised 03-12-2009
Criteria: Selection will be based on the significance of support to 4-H on a statewide level. The award is intended for individuals still in active service. Retired and former officials who have supported 4-H should be considered for “GAE4-HA Friend of 4-H,” “4-H Lifetime Achievement Award,” or “4-H Hall of Fame.”
The Award: A green 4-H blazer will be presented to the official during State 4-H Congress with an intent for the recipient to wear the jacket during 4-H Day at the Capitol in the following General Assembly session. To complement the blazer (jacket), an etched glass award will also be presented. In addition to the jacket and glass, the state winner in the Citizenship Project will receive a scholarship named in honor of the Green Jacket Award winner.
The Sponsors: The award will be established as recognition from Georgia 4-H alumni, donors, volunteers, and friends. It is intended to be from total 4-H (program, facilities, local, district, state, Foundation, Advisory, associations, etc.). Georgia EMCs sponsor the program.
