Georgia 4-H Military Programs

The purpose of Georgia 4-H Military Programs is to support military youth with positive youth development through new and existing 4-H programs on installations and off installations while providing programming for all audiences about the military and their families.

Background
The National 4-H Headquarters at Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service (CSREES) http://www.national4-hheadquarters.gov at the U.S. Department of Agriculture has several partnerships in place to extend the exciting world of 4-H to U.S. military youth around the world. The goal is for military youth to become involved in 4-H and to be able to continue their 4-H work wherever they move when their parents are transferred or deployed.

State 4-H Military Liaisons http://www.usda-army-ydp.org/contact_liaisons.html have been named in each state to support the work that CSREES/4-H is doing with the U.S. Army Child & Youth Services and the U.S. Air Force Family Member Programs, as well as to reach out to the Army and Air National Guards and Reserve Units.

Georgia is home to many military installations, six of which have Child & Youth Services offices or Family Member Programs offices. These six installations actively participate in
4-H programming as part of the 4-H/Military Partnership. The following counties work with installations based in their county:

Counties with Installation Based Programs
Installation County
Fort Benning Muscogee County
Fort Gordon Richmond County
Hunter Army Airfield Chatham County
Fort Stewart Liberty County
Moody Air Force Base Lowndes County
Robins Air Force Base Houston County
