The 2009 National 4-H Conference will be held March 28– April 2, 2009 , at the National 4-H Youth Conference Center in Chevy Chase , Maryland . This is one of the top 4-H honors; therefore, it is recommended that you submit applications from your best all-around 4-H members. The selection process will include applicant interviews which will be held during 4-H Fall Forum.

- A 4-H member who is currently enrolled in 4-H, is a Senior 4-H'er and has not passed his/her 19th birthday on January 1, 2009, is eligible to complete for selection for this trip to National 4-H Conference.
- 4-H'er must not have attended National 4-H Conference previously.
PROJECT PROCEDURE
- Submit applications from the Senior 4-H'ers in your county.
- Delegates will be selected on basis of:
- 4-H project work
- 4-H leadership work
- Leadership activities in other fields
- Citizenship activities
- Essay submitted with application
- Selected applicants will be interviewed at 4-H Fall Forum on Saturday, December 13, 2008. This is the only time when applicants can be interviewed.
NATIONAL 4-H CONFERENCE APPLICATION SHOULD INCLUDE:
- Completed National 4-H Conference Application Form.
- Two-page typed essay (12 pt. font, not to exceed two pages) entitled: "How has 4-H broadened your horizons on local or statewide issues?
(The essay should address the following topics)
1. How were your eyes opened to the issue you were previously unaware of?
2. Describe the moment you became aware of the issue and how you have gone about impacting the issue in a positive way.
3. If you could create a program to address this issue in your community:
- What would be your focus?
- With whom would you collaborate?
- What would your program do?
Remember the November 24 deadline. Applications received after the deadline may not be considered. Selections will be announced the week after Fall Forum. We are looking forward to receiving your applications.
