Georgia 4-H/FFA Beef School

2005 Georgia 4-H/FFA Beef School - July 10-13, 2005
Perry, GA

The Georgia 4-H/FFA Beef School is held every other year in conjunction with the Georgia Beef Futurity in Perry, Georgia at the Agricenter. 4-H'ers, FFA members and their calf enjoy 4 days and 3 nights of resident instruction. Participants will work with excellent instructors and speaker who will cover all the basics of owing, raising
and showing a steer or heifer. some of the topics include bed making/rinsing, hair care & washing; equipment care; what to take to a show; fitting and clipping; judging; showmanship; selection, team events and graduation. Approximately 75 4-H and FFA members aged 9-19 are accepted. In addition about 10 Teen leaders who do not bring calves to the school assist with the program. University of Georgia Extension Specialists,
County Extension Agents, and Adult volunteers provide adult leadership for this program. The cost for a 4-H or FFA participant is $200 and includes all meals and lodging for the youth, stalling for the calf, registration fees and a beef school t-shirt. The cost for a Teen Leader is $100 and
includes all meals and lodging, registration fee's and a beef school t-shirt. The cost for an Adult Leader is $100 and includes all meals and lodging, registration fee's and a beef school t-shirt. Applications are due June 1st to Heather Shultz's office in Athens.
