RE: Georgia 4-H State Board of Directors Nominations
& Elections DUE
June 11, 2008
Your 4-H'ers have an incredible opportunity to nominate and elect 4-H'ers from all over the state to represent them and the 4-H program. The Georgia 4-H State Board of Directors is compromised of 4-H'ers nominated through application and elected by their peers during the State 4-H Council, June 20-22.
4-H'ers interested in running for office should complete that attached nomination packet. The packet includes general information, applicant information, expectations and a signature page. All documents must be completed and signed before a 4-H'er may be nominated. 4-H'ers whose completed packets are returned to me before June 11 will be included in the candidate information packets. Each delegate at Council will have the opportunity, if they desire, to review the entire application of candidates. Additionally, all those received prior to June 9th will be included in the Council program . Late nominations will be accepted at State Council registration, June 20. However, these nominees must have a complete packet to be accepted and will not be added to the packet information
Please note that the nomination packet does include an application form. 4-H'ers must receive at least 50 points in order to run for office. These forms will be reviewed. Only those 4-H'ers with complete, accurate information may run.
Three individuals should sign the application: the parent/guardian, the candidate and the 4-H agent. An additional signature is provided for volunteers or 4-H program assistants. This signature is not required; however, realizing that many volunteers and program assistants working closely with senior 4-H'ers, their signatures give them the opportunity to endorse the candidate.
Please be sure that the candidate is familiar with
campaign
guidelines and procedures. Please be sure that you and the candidate
have reviewed them carefully before State 4-H Council. We have made some
changes for this year. Campaigning will not be allowed before 5:30 p.m.
on June 20th. Additionally, candidates are required to attend Candidate
Orientation. If you have any questions, please call and let me know.
