4-H members interested in applying for the 2006 - 2007 Georgia 4-H Technology Leadership Team download and complete the application (more information below) and return it to ga4h@uga.edu by July 15, 2007. Please include Technology Leadership Team Application in the subject line. The completed application should be sent from 4-H'ers personal email account with a copy directed to 4-H Agent. Current Technology Leadership Team Members must reapply and are strongly encouraged to do so.

All applicants must have a 4-H Agent recommendation sent separate from application to ga4h@uga.edu. The current 4-H Technology Leadership Team has had great success. I am looking forward to building on this success in the next year. Please encourage interested 4-H'ers to apply. The new team will be announced in August, 2007.

Georgia 4-H Youth Technology Leadership Team


What is the Criteria to be selected?

  • Interest in information technology.
  • Skills in one or more of the following areas:
    • Training / Teaching Skills (especially peer teaching)
    • Graphic design / Flash, etc.
    • GPS/ GIS knowledge or interest in learning about GPS/GIS
    • Journalism / Writing / Editing
    • Video / Photography / Video Editing / Film, Video and Movie making
    • Audio
    • Web Page Design, Creation and Maintenance and Creative Web Design
    • Computer Programming (HTML, Java, PERL, C, etc.)
    • Podcasting
  • 4-H'ers must be enrolled in the Senior 4-H Program in their county
    (grades 9-12 for the 2007-2008 school year) or enrolled in Collegiate 4-H. Volunteers should be active in their county 4-H program.
  • Interest in working collaboratively on district, state, and national projects.
  • Interest in improving personal technology skills and sharing these skills with others.
  • Has or can obtain access to a computer, Internet, and e mail daily or at least every other day.
  • Responsibility and ability to follow through in order to complete projects in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Recommendation from your 4-H agent.

What are the expectations of the 4-H Technology Team Members?
  • Must attend Fall Retreat September 9 - 10, 2007, Spring Retreat April 28-29, 2008 and any special Tech Team Project
    weekends as assigned.
  • Must complete a certain number of assigned Tech Team projects throughout the year you are chosen to be a team member including a 4-H project page.
  • Must have e-mail and computer access and internet browsing skills and be willing to check email daily or at least every other day.
  • Must be willing to commit the time necessary to complete assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Must be willing to post regularly on the Tech Team message board.
  • Must be willing to participate actively in all aspects of Tech Team.
  • Must abide by Georgia 4-H Cyber Code of Conduct and Georgia
    4-H Code of Conduct.
  • Must be interested in using and learning more about technology and
    promoting 4-H programs through technology.
  • Must be willing to learn and explore new technologies.
  • Should be able to work independently as well as with a team.
  • Must be willing to teach workshops / sessions at various 4-H events as needed.
  • Must be willing to mentor others using skills gained.
  • Must be an ACTIVE member or adult in a county 4-H program.
  • Should attend Fall Forum 2007, and State Council 2008.

What are the costs of team membership?
Many team activities are donor or grant funded. However, there will be some costs associated with attending team retreats ( usually $35.00 or less). Team members will also purchase a team shirt which will cost $25.00 or less. For those selected for special events such as National Technology Conference, other costs will apply. Fundraising opportunities and grant applications will help team members defray costs.

Please remember: You do not have to be an expert in any area. If you have a special 4-H club, project, leadership position, or activity (i.e. Horse club, District Officer, Clovers & Co., etc. ) that you would like to work with please list it in the Section IV, Areas of Interest. Experience Working as a Team:

The Tech Team is a virtual team. We usually meet twice a year and the rest of our time is spent working in a virtual environment. We have several online communication tools to help us communicate with each other and frequent online chats.
