Day classes are two hours long and evening classes will either be 1 or 2 hours long, depending upon your programming and length of stay.

Day Classes
New Games- This activity works well as a daytime or nighttime class. Allows students to experience non-traditional physical activities in a non-competitive way. Class outline
Rock Eagle Hike - This 2-hour class consists of hiking the students to the effigy, discussing some of the information known about the mound, and then hiking the students back to the center. You may also point out interesting things you see along the way (wildlife, historic sites, etc.). Class outline
Cemetery Studies- Learn about and explore two very different historical cemeteries located adjacent to Rock Eagle property. Students will compare and contrast the physical and cultural characteristics of each. Class outline
Dragons and Dragonflies- Students work on written communication skills by writing and drawing. Assist students gain an understanding of the importance of descriptive writing. Class outline
River of Words - An international poetry and art project designed to nurture respect and understanding of the natural world. Students are encouraged to learn their "ecological address" by honing their observation skills and describing their "place in space" through poetry and art. Evening Classes
Videos - Choose from our list of videos and learn about the amazing world of plants and animals. Worksheets are available.
- Insects - Understand why these amazing creatures are so important to our ecosystem. Worksheet and Answer Key

- Planet Earth DVD-
choose a segment from the 11-part BBC series, each 50-minute episode covers a specific geographical region and/or wildlife habitat (mountains, caves, deserts, shallow seas, seasonal forests, etc.)
Campfire - Have your own campfire! Participate in a fun, recreational, and social activity that is always a welcome addition to the Rock Eagle trip. Class outline
Dance - Give your students another taste of social life. We have CD players, tape decks, and microphones available for your use. Let us know in advance, so we can get equipment ready. You or your students will need to provide the music.
Movie Night - Bring a current video for your students to watch. Just let us know in advance and we will reserve a VCR for you.

Night Hike - The woods surrounding Rock Eagle are a great place to explore at night. Class outline
Social - Bring chips, popcorn, and other snacks and let the students have some time to just hang out with their friends. You may use the building assigned to you.
Sports - Enjoy softball, volleyball, kickball, and other sports. Some equipment is available at the main office.
Talent Show - Many of your students may have talents they will want to share with others. There are pianos in many of the buildings and a microphone can be set up. Please let us know in advance what equipment you will need.
