The Georgia 4-H Foundation relies heavily on the efforts of volunteers to help coordinate and organize yearly alumni & friends events.  In 1904, when Mr. G.C. Adams began the corn club in Newton County, he joined the long list of volunteers who have made a difference in the community.  Mr. Adams saw an opportunity to improve his students and sought resources to make it happen.  Today’s volunteers are much like Mr. Adams. Volunteers support, assist, develop, acquire, chaperone and deliver for Georgia 4-H.

Georgia 4-H is proud of the thousands of volunteers which make it possible to make the best better every day. Volunteers expand the potential of local, district, and state 4-H programs to impact Georgia's youth. These volunteers give countless hours of their time and are committed to making a difference. Georgia 4-H currently has:

  • 4,388 volunteers entered in 4-H Enrollment
  • 4,512 screened volunteers
  • 309 Certified 4-H Club Leaders
  • 3,383 Certified Overnight 4-H Chaperones
  • 653 Project SAFE Certified Volunteers
  • 66 Chartered 4-H Clubs

County Extension Staffs also report programs and contacts in Georgia Counts. According to Georgia Counts 174,176 volunteers have been involved in Extension programming with 683,807 hours given in support of Extension work by 4-H volunteers.
