4-H DRESS
4-H'ers should dress appropriately
for the subject they are presenting.
PRESENTATION AIDS

Posters for presentations: Club members
are encouraged to make their own posters. However, there are no restrictions
on who makes the poster for the 4-H member's demonstration. Points will
not be taken off if the judge feels the club member did not do his posters.
Posters should be judged on their contribution to the demonstration, not
on their professional appearance.

For
Cloverleaf & Junior competitors: Videos, slides, computers, may
be used in the Photography and Communications. Computer project competitors
may use computer(s) and computer equipment/programs in the presentation.
4-H'ers must provide their own equipment including slide projector, video
projector, computer screen,extension cord, etc.

For Senior competitors:
any technology is allowed for any 4-H project presentations. However, all
equipment including projectors, screens, extension chords, etc must be
furnished. Projects must be presented in rooms scheduled.

For Junior &
Senior Performing Arts Competitors: Competitors will be required to use
microphones provided for the competition. Provided microphones will include
a headset microphone, cordless microphone and a microphone stand. 4-H'ers
will not be allowed to use personal microphones

Live Animals including small
animals such as fish, hamsters, and hermit crabs (as well as live insects)
are not permitted at project competition.

Firearms
and like weapons including but not limited to rifles, shotguns, bb guns,
paintball guns, potatoe guns and other items that propel a projectile are
not allowed to be used as visual aids in any 4-H presentations. Additionally
any bacteriological weapon, biological weapon, destructive device, detonator,
explosive, incendiary, over-pressure device, poison gas or explosive device
may not be used in any 4-H presentations.

Foods Lab Projects (Pizza, Muffins,
Dairy Foods (Jr & Sr), Between Meal Snacks, Better Breakfast, Festive
Foods for Health and Food Fare) are the only projects in which food preparation
should take place during project achievement competition. Foods projects
that are illustrated talks are not appropriate avenues for food preparation
and points may be deducted for demonstrating preparation steps.

Overhead Projectors: may be used
in any project, however, all equipment must be furnished by the club
member or his county. This includes the overhead projector, screen,
extension cords, etc. Demonstration must be given in the room scheduled.

Tape Recorders and other sound systems:
Tape recorders and other sound equipment may be used to help dramatize
a presentation. Here again, 4-H'er will be responsible for furnishing all
of the equipment needed: tape, recorders, cassettes.

Cloverleaf students are
not allowed to bring to any district competitions or have in their
possession at school during any 4-H event, activity or function the following
items: loaded or unload firearms, mace, box cutter, explosive devices including
bullets and stun guns, razors, guns or replica of guns, chemical sprays,
razor blades, darts, ammunition of any type, pellet or BB gun, night stick
knife of any type or size stink bomb\pipe bomb, fireworks of any type,
any homemade bomb or smoke bob, martial arts devices, paint bombs, any
item that releases a spray, foam, smoke, gas, fire or odor, fuses for explosive
devices, fighting chains, metal or brass knuckles, pen style laser pointers.
Additionally, appliances with blades such as blenders,
hand or electric choppers, and food processors are not permited.
NOTES:
Points will not automatically be taken
off because a 4-H'er uses notes. Notes may be used in demonstrations or
Public Speaking. Points should be deducted if excessive use of notes interferes
with presentation.
PUBLIC SPEAKING:
4-H'ers in the Public Speaking project
may prepare and present a speech about any subject. Visual aids, posters,
etc., may not be used in this project.
HANDOUTS/GIFTS:
Any educational handouts provided
by the contestant must be of adequate quantity for each person in the demonstration
room. A contestant may not give judges a gift or sample of project work.
This rule does not apply to a 4-H'ers dish that is tasted and evaluated
by the judges as part of a food and nutrition project, method demonstration
or lab.
