Frequently Asked Questions
What workshops will I
attend at the Forum?
Workshops are generally
filled on a first come, first serve basis. This year special workshop
selections including tours and tracks will be offered. More details will
be posted as to registration procedures for these opportunities once they
are made available. Generally more than 40 workshops are offer
with four different time periods. A delegate, in addition to participating
in motivational presentations, may select approximately 4 workshops to
attend as well as evening funshops.
What is a funshop?
Funshops are evening
workshops that are more recreational in nature. Some are crafts,
others are dancing while others may be a night hike. Simply put,
funshops are evening activities that run the gament from educational to
purely entertaining.
What is trading?
A forum tradition,
trading is an opportunity to get to know other leaders. During a
social time, leaders will exchange pins, tags and homemade items generally
depicting their home states. Items are offered in the spirit of friendship
and should be in good taste. A minimal number of items are provided
the Georgia delegation at registration and include bulldog stickers and
such. Past participants have made pins from cotton, peaches and other
Georgia commodities.
Are scholarships offfered
to Southern Region Leader Forum?
While National 4-H
Council provides coordination of the program and with a team of specialists
and volunteers from the region. Scholarships are not presented at
this level. Georgia 4-H with the assistance of the Georgia 4-H Volunteer
Leaders Association trips to Southern Region Leaders Forum through
the 4-H Volunteer Leader Recogntion Program. If a volunteer would
like to attend and funding is preventing attendance, please contact
Jenny Jordan (jwj4h@uga.edu).
We will try to work with any leader wishing to expand his/her knowledge
to benefit the total program.
If Rock Eagle is all
adults for the weekend will I sleep on a top bunk?
Cabins are assigned
with registration. We make every effort to accomodate special needs
of our delegation. Only a handful of delegates will be sleeping on
top bunks. We fill as many bottom bunks as possible. Additionally,
linens are provided so you will not need to bring sleeping bags or sheets.
What do I wear?
The Forum is primarily
casual in dress. Each Georgia delegate will be provided a Georgia
4-H Volunteer long sleeve t-shirt to wear for state pictures on Friday.
Additionally, Saturday evening's banquet is a dress up affair. Jeans,
shorts (in warm October's) and other casual wear is entirely appropriate.
