Youth and Rural Georgia
The Third Biennial 2006 Georgia Youth Summit is designed to create
an awareness of state/local issues, to enhance youth-adult partnerships
on the local level, and to equip youth to become active locally
in the betterment of their community.
Program Funding: The Governor and Georgia General Assembly
approved funding of the Third Biennial 2006 Georgia Youth Summit
as a project of the Youth and Rural Georgia Leadership Development
Initiative.
Funding of the program provides each of Georgia’s 159 counties
with a full sponsorship of conference fees for four rising 10th/11th
graders and one adult. The county team must secure their own transportation
to/from the event and pay registration fees for additional delegates.
Content: The key content issues for the conference include:
• Education
• Community Development
• Health
• Safety
Through the completion of the state of the county report, county
teams will come to the conference with background information about
each issue relative to their county.
Program Format: The conference is designed to begin at
2pm on Saturday, September 30th with delegate registration. The
event concludes on Monday, October 2nd with lunch.
